Dear Parents,
Welcome to track 4, third grade! I look forward to a wonderful year as your child’s teacher. I have been teaching for 18 incredible years! I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Communicative Arts at UNC Pembroke. I earned my National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist in 2008. I love learning and teaching and continue to do both as an Enrichment Curriculum writer for Wake County, mentor for beginning teachers, member of the WCPSS Teacher Leader Corp, and participant in new trainings and workshops throughout the year.
I grew up in Pinehurst, NC with my parents, two brothers, and sister. I began my teaching career in Pinehurst where both of my parents taught for over 30 years! In 2001, my husband and I moved to Raleigh, and I began my service with Wake County Schools.
I am the proud wife of Craig Chapman, Regional Vice President of KB Home Servicing, and the proud mother of Adam, a rising ninth grader at Leesville High School!
I am a teacher that works diligently to identify and teach to each child’s specific learning style. I believe that all children can and will learn when immersed in an active, hands-on learning environment.
I am also a firm believer in a partnership between the student, parents, and teacher. Your child will become a true stakeholder in their learning this year. Third grade is a year of many transitions; your child will learn many new curriculum topics and will be challenged to work more independently. By working together, we will provide each child with the tools they need to have a fabulous third grade year!
Sincerely,
Lori C. Chapman
